Founded in 1942, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is the largest and most influential organization in the housing industry, representing key executives for builders, contractors, and remodelers of single and multi-family housing along with professionals working in closely related fields. Known as the “voice of the housing industry", NAHB is dedicated to enhancing the climate for the housing and building industry along with promoting policies that will keep housing a national priority. NAHB membership is divided into two main groups: builders and associates.
NAHB’s builder members are responsible for about 80% of the new homes constructed in the U.S. every year and are directly involved in building homes. They include small-volume, production, and light commercial builders in addition to remodelers and rehabilitators.
NAHB’s associate members provide products and services to home builders. Product providers include dealers and distributors selling building materials, lumber, appliances, windows, etc. Service providers include mortgage and commercial bankers, architects, planners, designers, engineers, property managers, land developers, insurance and title companies, real estate brokers and agents, etc. NAHB membership also represents subcontractors and professionals involved in a variety of specialty trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, masonry, landscaping, etc.
