ABOUT:    AUA
Founded in 1902, the American Urological Association, Inc. (AUA) is the premier professional association serving the most prestigious urologists in the world. AUA is dedicated to the advancement of urologic patient care and its membership is comprised of physicians and surgeons with specialized knowledge and skill regarding problems of the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive organs. Although urology is classified as a surgical specialty, AUA members are required to also have in-depth knowledge of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and other specialties.

AUA itself fosters the highest standards of urologic care by providing the latest research and practices in urology, as well as participating in the formulation of health policy. A majority of AUA members are certified by the American Board of Urology (ABU), work in a group or solo practice, and have been a practicing urologist for more than 10 years. Besides general urology, AUA members also specialize in areas such as oncology, pediatrics, incontinence/female urology, kidney/bladder stones, and other related disciplines (selectable).
