Founded in 1924, the American College of Radiology (ACR) is a major, national medical specialty association dedicated to improving the quality of patient care. It is one of the principal organizations for diagnostic radiologists, interventional radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical medical physicists in the United States.
The mission of the ACR is to serve patients and society by maximizing the value of radiology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, and medical physics through advancing the science of radiology, improving the quality of patient care, positively influencing the socio-economics of the practice of radiology, and providing continuing education for radiologists and allied professional fields, and conducting research for the future of radiology.
